Christina Maciel
Director of Coaching 
Director Tidal Wave Academy

Christina Maciel enters her fourth season as the assistant women's soccer coach at Bryant. In the past three seasons, Maciel has helped transition the Bulldogs from the Division II to the Division I level.

Before returning to her alma mater, Maciel spent two years as the head women's soccer coach at Dean College. Previously the assistant coach, Maciel took over the head position in December of 2004. Under her tutelage, the program saw 12 players receive all-region honors and two players were named Dean College Female Athlete of the Year.

Maciel has established a name for herself in both the club and Olympic Development Programs in Rhode Island. This fall, she will enter her eighth season with the Rhode Island ODP where, for the past seven years, she has worked with several age groups and trained goalkeepers. Throughout the past 9 years, Maciel has taken an active role in the Rhode Island club soccer scene, holding coaching positions with the Rhode Island Rays and Bayside F.C.

At Bryant, Maciel was the recipient of the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week and NE-10 Player of the Week awards in her freshman and junior years. In her tenure as a player at Bryant, her team appeared in two conference tournaments and was the first squad in program history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, accomplished in 2001. Maciel graduated from Bryant in 2004 with a degree in marketing.

Maciel has her NSCAA National Certificate and USSF D license.

Jeremy Sherer
Director of Marketing
Head Coach 94-95 Girls

Jeremy Sherer enters his 5th season at Tidal Wave. While at Tidal Wave, Jeremy has led his team to the RI State Cup Semi Finals and State Cup Championship.  He holds a USSF National Y License and D License.  Jeremy has been a member of the RI Olympic Development coaching staff for five years. Prior to coming to Tidal Wave, Jeremy was the Director of Coaching at CLCF in Cranston, RI. He coached at WMS in North Kingstown--where he helped launch a new middle school soccer program winning the NK Cup for two consecutive years-- and at the HS level at Moses Brown School in Providence.  He is an active member of the NSCAA and is an avid Arsenal fan.
Jeff Patten
Head Coach 99-98 Girls
Physical Trainer

Jeff has worked in the sports and fitness field for over ten years and currently is the owner of Athletic Conditioning Center, Inc. in Coventry, RI. ACC has the distinction of being the premier soccer training facility in New England. Jeff has trained many of the top players from RI, MA, and CT.

In addition to his training at ACC, Jeff is an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Bryant University where he assists in developing the team’s fitness and speed agility program.  He has also coached several youth soccer teams in CT and RI. He coached for the Rhode Island Olympic Development Program for three years and played D-III soccer at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Jeff earned his B.S. in Sport Management/Health and Fitness with a minor in physical education from Eastern Connecticut State University and an M.S. in Human Movement (Biomechanics) from A.T. Still University.

Martin Yarumian
Head Coach 98-99 Boys

Yarumian has grown up playing soccer through the Coventry Soccer Association and still plays in a number of leagues in Rhode Island. He began his coaching career at the young age of 14 and has worked developing players for the past 12 years.  During this time Yarumian has coached both boys and girls in all age groups, from the U8 to U19.  Most recently, he coached the Coventry U12 girls to a Superliga State Championship.

He served as the U8 and U10 trainer as well as the goalkeeper coach for Coventry Soccer Association.  Yarumian also does individual training, group sessions, and helps other coaches to develop their coaching skills.

Yarumian has also branched off to develop his own soccer camps that develop skills, knowledge of the game, and the ability to play at an elite level.  Now he will bring his talents to TIDAL WAVE S.C. working with the U-12 boys squad as well as spear heading the Tidal Wave South movement, as the club looks to grow into Southern Rhode Island.

David Tidwell

Head Coach 97-98 Girls

David Tidwell began his playing days in London, England for his first team school side as a teenager. As an adult, he has continued playing, competing in the RI Amateur League. 

Tidwell began his coaching career at the youth recreation level in 1998 and quickly moved through licensing courses to obtain his National C License in 2001.  He currently coaches for Tidal Wave SC and Rhode Island ODP where he has led teams to the ODP Region 1 Tournament for the last six years.  At Tidal Wave, Tidwell led his 90-91 girls' "Big Blue" to first place finishes in the Massachusetts Bandits Cup and in the prestigious Dana Cup in Denmark, where his ladies went undefeated in eight games over five days.  The team was ranked second in Rhode Island and in the top 50 regionally as seniors.  Fifteen of the players from that team are now successfully competing in college programs from Florida to New Hampshire. 

In 2002, Tidwell formed Tidal Wave SC as an organization pledged to developing soccer players in a creative, encouraging atmosphere, focusing on improving individual player skills and technique.  Tidwell has served as Vice President of the Rehoboth Youth Soccer Club and President of Dighton Rehoboth Youth Soccer Travel Program. Currently, he is serves as the Vice President and Director of the ODP Program for Rhode Island and President of Tidal Wave SC. 

Michael Maciel
Goal Keeper Coach and Physical Trainer

Michael Maciel is entering his second full season with the Tidal Wave Club. Maciel currently resides as the club's goalkeeper coach as well as asst. coach of the u-18 and u-12 squads.

A native Rhode Islander and former standout at Rhode Island College and Providence Country Day, Maciel brings an upbeat attitude and wealth of knowledge to players within the club. He is no stranger to the club level, as he played and coached for Bayside F.C. since its inception.
Colleen Marasco
Head Coach 98-99 Girls

Colleen Marasco is excited to be joining Tidal Wave SC in her first full-time coaching endeavor. Marasco grew up playing in the New York West soccer scene for clubs around her hometown area of Binghamton, NY as well as in Syracuse, NY. With the Syracuse Blitz premier club she was part of two NYSW State Cup championship teams, once reaching the final four of the Region 1 championships. She has also played in the NYSW ODP program, attending two Region 1 camps.

Scholastically, Marasco was a 5-year Varsity starter at Maine-Endwell High School, contributing to a program that consistently won Class A Central Division and Section IV titles, once reaching the State semifinal. In her senior year Marasco was a co-captain and All-Division selection which allowed her to play on a week-long European tour against teams from Italy, Germany and more. At Johnson & Wales University in Providence, she played 4 years collegiately for the D-III program, which competes in the GNAC. Marasco helped to rebuild a strong foundation as a starter and 2-year captain.

Although partial to the central midfield spot, she has played every field position throughout her career and looks to bring that experience, as well as her team-oriented mindset, to the club.
Melanie Smith
Head Coach 93-94 Girls

Melanie enters her second season with Tidal Wave. In 2009-10 she led the u-17 squad for the club.

A resident of Rehoboth, MA her whole life, she was a four year varsity player at Dighton-Rehoboth HS. Over the course of her four years, she racked up many accolades including: All-Conference All Star two years in a row,  team captain in 2005, and she still stands as the all time leading scorer for DRHS.

Smith played club ball for Nor’easter Soccer Club, where she captured a state championship in 2003.

Smith went on to play at Bryant University, graduating with an Accounting degree in 2009. 

Bonnie Drezek

Drezek is entering her 4th year as a coach within the Tidal Wave club.
Sean Lambert
Goalkeeper Coach
Assistant Coach 93-94 Girls

Lambert begins his first year with Tidal Wave Soccer Club.  A native of Rehoboth, MA, Sean was  a three  year varsity goalkeeper for DRRHS.  He went on to play at Southern New Hampshire University earning two time NE-10 goalkeeper of the year, two time Eastern Region First Team, and Second Team All-American in his Junior year.  He led the Penmen to a Conference Championship in 2009. 

Sean is now the Goalkeeper coach for Worcester State University Women’s soccer team.  The Lancers won the Conference Championship this past 2010 season.
